At #ShareOneWorld we believe that reading books about disability inclusivity inspires people to make society more inclusive in real life. Part of our goal of an equal and accessible world by 2030 involves Pledge-Makers:
reading, to yourself and others, books about other children and adults with disabilities
encouraging the spread of disability-inclusive literature
Read a book related to inclusion
On the first station, start by picking up a book— from your school or local library— that includes characters with disabilities. Find a recommended reading list below!
Read the same book to someone else
Now that you’ve understood the book, read it to someone around you— like a junior or a younger sibling.
Get your school library to include the book
Once you’re confident in understanding the book's importance and message, ask a teacher or the librarian to include it in the school library.
Campaign for publishers to produce more books related to inclusion
By this final station, you may have finished the reading list (or more). You might have realised that there aren't enough books on inclusion. Start a campaign to get more publishers to produce more inclusive books!
