34 years, plenty of adventures along the way, and we know there is still a long way to go before society is inclusive.

KEEN History

KEEN’s beginnings can be traced to the Autumn of 1984, when a Rhodes scholar called John Simon arrived in Oxford. John had volunteered with the Special Olympics in the States, and noticing a lack of opportunity for disabled young people to take part in sports in Oxford, decided to do something about it…

After a strong start, in the hands of Elliott Portnoy KEEN quickly expanded in scope and vision, and over 30 years later, KEEN is an international non-profit movement that serves hundreds of young people with disabilities each week in cities around the UK and US, training over 30,000 volunteer as a result. Find out more about KEEN's history here.

Our Policies

We have over 30 years of experience and expertise, and everyone’s well-being is paramount in everything we do. We have a full set of polices, procedures, risk assessments and public and employer liability insurance, which all help to ensure that we create a safe, secure and fun environment for everyone. These are reviewed whenever necessary and at least on an annual basis.
