KEEN famous: meet William!

KEEN famous: meet William!

KEEN is full of absolute superstars and we wanted to share their stories with you. Today we hear from William, one of our participants, whose smiles and giggles bring so much joy to KEEN. We spoke to him and his carer, Bethan, about why KEEN is important to them.

William sits on the left, wearing a blue top and red sports cap. He wears glasses and has a big smile! Lizzie, on the right, is wearing a yellow KEEN t-shirt and has her arms out. She is wearing a face-visor and has a big smile on her face.

Why is KEEN important to you?

KEEN is important to me because it means I get to meet other people and have fun outside of school. It also meant that I had fun things to do and got to see other people through zoom when I was stuck at home in lockdown.

Can you introduce yourself?

“My name is William and I have been going to KEEN for nearly a year! I started KEEN during lockdown and made lots of friends who I got to meet when lockdown ended. A fun fact to know about me is that I can put a smile on anybody’s face! I love seeing people smile and be happy.”

William is wearing a white spotty party hat. In front of him is a cupcake stand with Halloween cakes!

I enjoy KEEN Chats because I get to listen to what everyone has been up to and see new faces! I also really enjoyed Friday Film Club because we were able to watch my favourite movie and other people’s favourite movies which I’d never seen before! Some of these movies are now also my favourite too!

Clare, Katie, William and Bethan are all smiling. Clare is holding a paper boat they have made (which will soon be tested out in the water!)

How does KEEN help you?

I think KEEN helps me because I am given the opportunity to make new friends and explore my local area. I love to get out and see lots of different people, especially when they include me in activities. One of my favourite memories is helping to make paper boats and testing them out in the water!

Thank you to William and Bethan for sharing their KEEN story with us - we can’t wait to see you soon! If you’d like to be KEEN famous, email Catherine at keen@keenoxford.org for more info.
